Central Valley High School's freshman boys basketball team dropped two of three game en route to a fourth-place finish at its home tournament.

"It wasn't a great performance," Hawks first-year head coach Jordan Dickson said. "I think the kids would agree with me."

Central Valley's Moses Ghiorso was named to the all-tournament team. The standout guard averaged 14.7 points per game. He also starred on defense.

"He played really well on both ends of the court," Dickson said.

The Hawks committed 30-plus turnovers during their 36-34 loss to Grace Davis in the third-place game on Nov. 30.

Ghiorso had a team-high 19 points for Central Valley, which led 31-25 heading into the fourth quarter.

Sunil Saini and Reuben Rodriguez contributed seven and four points, respectively.

Central Valley lost 46-41 to Gregori in the semifinals on Nov. 29.

Ghiorso tallied 14 points.

Ravinder Singh collected eight points.

Rodriguez and Josh Sidhu tallied six points each.

Central Valley led 33-30 at the end of the third quarter.

The Jaguars outscored the Hawks 16-8 in the final period.

Central Valley pounded Johansen 50-33 on Nov 28.

Rodriguez (12) and Ghiorso (11) both scored in double figures.

Simron Singh added eight points.

"We had some bright spots," Dickson said while assessing his team's overall performance. "Our defense was solid. We need to work on execution on offense. We're still learning to play together. We just need more experience and practice time. The talent is there."
