Central Valley High School's varsity boys basketball team turned in its most complete performance of the season this past week.

Jaron Dickson poured in 17 of his game-high 19 points in the first half, newcomer Jordan Thornton contributed 16 points off the bench and Pitman transfer Ryan Donnelly added eight points as the Hawks crushed the Livingston Wolves 71-52 on Wednesday in Ceres.

Central Valley improved to 1-2 in the Western Athletic Conference standings.

"It was a great team effort," Hawks head coach Darryl Dickson said. "That's what I love to see."

Central Valley also received contributions during the game from Juan Manriquez (seven points), Parker Griffin (five points), Ja'Quan Gardner (five points), Amrit Chahal (four points), Kendel Johnson (four points) and Manuel Garcia (three points).

Brian Perez scored a team-high 15 points for the Wolves (1-2).

Joseph Chavez added 13 points.

"We were upset because we started out 0-2," Jaron Dickson said. "We wanted to prove we could play for four quarters. We finally played together as a team. We showed a lot of heart. We did what we were supposed to do."

Jaron provided a major boost as Central Valley grabbed a 32-26 lead in the opening half. Thornton, Johnson, Garcia and Griffin added six, four, three and two points, respectively.

The Hawks outscored the Wolves 20-11 in the third quarter. Jordan tallied eight points. Donnelly and Gardner both contributed four points. Manriquez collected three points. Griffin added one point.

"For the first time all season, they put a full four quarters together," Darryl Dickson said. "Everybody did excellent. I'm really happy with tonight. I sure hope it's a turning point in league play. We're awfully tough when we play to the best of our ability."

Added Jaron: "Now, we realize what it takes to win."

Central Valley will host Pacheco today and Central Catholic on Friday.

Both games will get underway at 7:30 p.m.
