Spring crafts, celebrations and reading in full swing at local libraries

Visitors to the Ceres Library this month may enjoy free crafts, activities, and a free show.

Wee Move and Play will be held on Wednesdays, April 5 and 19 at 11:30 a.m. This program features unstructured playtime for toddlers and preschoolers, during which they can enjoy movement and sensory play.

The library will host a LEGO Day on Thursday, April 6 at 3:30 p.m. Children will have the opportunity to build LEGO creations that will then be displayed in the library. Participants under the age of 4 must have direct parental supervision.

The library will offer a drop-in knitting program on Saturdays, April 8 and 22, between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., designed for beginning knitters, or individuals who would like to improve their knitting skills. Interested parties are encouraged to visit the library's circulation desk to get started. Needles and yarn will be available for beginning knitters.

The library will host two craft programs for children and teens this month, beginning with the "Build an Edible Peeps Birdhouse" craft on Thursday, April 13 at 3:30 p.m. Participants will build the birdhouses out of seasonal peeps and other treats. On Thursday, April 20 at 3:30 p.m. crafters can make their own kaleidoscopes out of recyclable materials.

The Ceres Library Book Club will meet on Wednesday, April 26 at 11:30 a.m. This month, the book club will discuss The Boys in the Boat by Daniel James Brown.

All ages are invited to enjoy coloring and watercolor painting on Thursday, April 27 at 3:30 p.m. All materials will be provided.

April events at local branches of the Stanislaus County Library will include fun spring crafts, multicultural folk tales performed by a children's theatre troupe and Day of the Child/Day of the Book celebrations.

Keyes Library
The Keyes Library will offer free activities for kids in April starting with an April Showers kids craft held at 3 p.m. April 6 and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 7. Families will be able to make a 3-D art scene to get in the mood for the rainy season.

The Goza Family will perform two multicultural folktales full of physical comedy, music, song, dance, American Sign Language and audience participation at 11 a.m. April 17. The show is 45 minutes long. Free tickets will be available an hour before.
