Halloween falls on Tuesday, Oct. 31 and fun times are planned in Ceres.

The city is sponsoring its annual Ceres Halloween Festival on Tuesday while Harvest Presbyterian Church will be holding a Trunk or Treat event on Monday evening, Oct. 30.

The annual Ceres Halloween Festival will take place at the Ceres Community Center, 2501 Fourth Street, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Halloween evening. Families will be treated to a safe and fun evening filled with free activities but all children must be accompanied by an adult.

The event, which is sponsored by the city of Ceres Recreation Department, will feature a costume contest, games, Halloween photo booth, crafts, dance, a science room, a fake tattoo parlor, storytelling, face painting and a haunted courtyard experience. A costume contest will take place at 7 p.m. in the Large Assembly Room.

Helping the city to put on the event will be youth groups from both Ceres and Central Valley high schools as well as Mae Hensley and Blaker Kinser junior high schools.

The public is invited to attend Harvest Presbyterian's Trunk or Treat from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 30. Members of the church and community will be handing out treats from the trunks of their vehicles or beds of pickups decorated with a creative biblical or fall theme.
