James Edward Krause

July 10, 1928 - Oct. 19, 2016

James Edward Krause entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 19, 2016. He passed away at home at the age of 88, being cared for by his Loving wife Mildred. They had been married anddevoted to one another for 68 years.

Jim was born in Superior, Wisconsin on July 10, 1928 and came to California at an early age when the Depression caused the family to lose their farm. They settled in Ceres where he attended Ceres schools until shortly before graduating from Ceres High when he enlisted in the U.S. Marines Corp. He served in the China Marines from 1945 to 1947. Mr. Krause was wounded in combat during the conflict. When he came home, he returned to Ceres High to finish his education. He sat across from Mildred Gardiner in their World Problems class; however, he had no problem winning her love. They graduated on a Friday and were married the following Friday in 1948.

Jim and Mildred had the privilege of raising four children. Jim provided for his family by working 42 years at Merchants Refrigeration in Modesto.

After retirement, Jim and Mildred traveled extensively in their motor home. Jim loved to read, fish and travel. He belonged to American Legion Ceres Post 491, the China Marine Association, the Old Fisherman's Club and the Good Sam Club.

Jim is survived by his wife, Mildred Krause of Ceres; his sons, Michael (Peggy), Edward (Yvonne), and Daniel; and their daughter, Cindy Helsley (Dallas); his beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren as well as all of his nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by son Robert, whom they lost shortly after birth.

Jim requested no service. He will be laid to rest in the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella.
If you wish to make a donation in his honor please give to the charity of your choice.
