A 19-year-old Ceres man was arrested for uttering offensive words in public to incite a violent reaction.

The Wednesday, Dec. 20 incident began when a tow truck driver was called to the 1000 block of Sun Meadow Drive before 9 a.m. to tow a vehicle owned by Dylon Fuentes. The city's vehicle abatement officer was having the car towed to a storage yard because it had been abandoned on the roadway. Fuentes was upset, and threatened the tow truck driver and refused to get off the tow truck in protest. A Ceres Police sergeant came to assist and saw Fuentes running from the side yard carrying a large metal object that appeared to be a transmission component on his shoulder. The sergeant said Fuentes threw the metal object through the front passenger window, making a comment that if his car was being taken, they could take the object too.

Fuentes was handcuffed as the incident was sorted out. Paramedics were called to treat Fuentes for cuts to his hands made during his display of rage. He was then booked into jail.
