Drug possession sent Michael Ledbetter, 46, of Ceres, back to jail after his suspicious actions on Sunday afternoon flagged the attention of a Ceres Police officer.

Ledbetter was crouched down behind a bush at the northeast corner of a warehouse at 2219 Hackett Road as Officer Krandall Vandagriff drove by at 3:40 p.m. Since he appeared to be hiding, the officer pulled up to Ledbetter who by then had hopped on his bicycle and peddled southbound on Railroad Avenue.

Ledbetter said he had neem "taking a break" from riding when the officer saw him and stated his family owned the business and gave him permission to be there. Officer Vandagriff ran a check on Ledbetter which noted he had arrest warrants issued on behalf of the Ceres Police Department and the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department.

The inquiry also revealed that Ledbetter was on searchable probation. A search of Ledbetter turned up a clear plastic bag containing suspected crystal methamphetamine, which Ledbetter admitted owning.

Ledbetter was charged with the outstanding warrants and possession of a controlled substance.
