Ceres High varsity boys volleyball head coach Darlene Tobler spoke glowingly of her team following Thursday's 3-1 (23-25, 25-20, 28-26, 25-22) home loss to Livingston in Western Athletic Conference play.

"I have a lot of faith in my team," she said. "They're working super hard. They were just a little off today."

The Bulldogs dropped to 5-4 overall and 1-2 in the WAC standings.

The Wolves improved to 11-6 and 3-0.

Christian Murry led the Bulldogs with 12 kills, 12 digs, four blocks and one ace.

Gustavo Hernandez collected 14 assists, four digs and two blocks.

Ivan Arita had 13 digs, six kills, four blocks and one assist.

Cristian Garcia had nine blocks, eight digs, five kills and four aces.

Fernando Sosa had eight digs, three assists and two kills.

Christian Martinez, Freddi Lopez and Alex Garcia had six, four and three digs, respectively.

Daniel Hadwick added one dig.

Ceres High could have won the third and fourth games versus Livingston.

"We had the momentum," Murry said. "We just didn't block effectively."

Livingston erased a 19-14 deficit and staved off three set points (24-22, 24-23, 25-24) during Game 3.

Ceres High battled back from an 11-7 deficit on the strength of a 10-3 run during Game 4.

Down 17-14, the Wolves outscored the Bulldogs 11-5 the rest of the way to secure the victory.

"We should still be playing," Murry said. "We have the talent to beat them. We weren't locked in."

Added Tobler: "It could have gone either way."
