CV track & field members turn in respectable performances

Angel Simon finished second overall in the 100 behind Hawk teammate Sheryln Hernandez.

Central Valley High School's varsity boys and girls track and field teams competed at Livingston last week.

"Although we did not win, we did compete well, and had some good performances," Hawks head coach Mike Reynolds said. "Obviously, we wanted to do better. Livingston's dominated for so long. Our points are getting closer."
Central Valley's boys squad dropped to 2-2 in Western Athletic Conference dual-meet standings following Thursday's 76-55 loss to the Wolves.

The Hawks' 4x100 relay team of PJ Singh, Angelo Bermudez, Alex Vazquez and Ja'Quan Gardner placed first.

Gardner also finished first in the 100 and long jump.
Bermudez took second in the 100.

Jordan Sek and Kenneth Padilla won the high jump and pole vault, respectively.

Central Valley's girls team fell to 1-3 in the WAC after losing 82-48 to Livingston.

Heaven Simon swept three events, including the 300 hurdles, 200 and 400.

Sheryln Hernandez won the 100, while Angel Simon finished second.

Allen Keefe, a member of Central Valley's frosh-soph boys track and field team, placed first in three events (high jump, triple jump and pole vault).

Central Valley will play host to Ceres High and Central Catholic this Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
