Ceres High’s Destiny Suarez finished 11th in the 800 and 21st in the 1,600 while competing at the Modesto Junior College Invitational last Friday.

Ceres High's varsity track and field program enjoyed a successful start to the Western Athletic Conference dual-meet season last week.

"I'm very pleased," Bulldogs head coach Brett Johnson said. "I thought it would be a closer meet. Los Banos always has a good program. We performed very well across the board."

Ceres High's boys team cruised to a 107-28 victory over Los Banos on Wednesday at Bulldog Stadium.

Conner Johnson swept the shot put and discus.

Marcellus Boykins swept the triple jump and long jump.

Christian Linarez swept the 1,600 and 800.

Daniel Yepez swept the 300 hurdles and 110 hurdles.

Zyier Harrison swept the 200 and 100.

Zach Baker won the high jump.

Jorge Tiscareno won the pole vault.

Ceres High' 4x100 relay team of Harrison, Cordell Dennis, Johnny Hutson and Andrew Gibson finished first.

Ceres High's 4x400 relay team of Boykins, Hutson, Harrison and Linarez finished first.

Ceres High's girls team prevailed, 100-35.

Azia Brewster swept the 100 hurdles, high jump and long jump.

Julia Pata took first in shot put and discus.

Azar Harrison finished first in the 100 and 200.

CHS athletes shine
The Bulldogs had four individual champions during Friday's Modesto Junior College Invitational.

Zyier Harrison set a personal record while taking first in the 100 (11.24).

He also placed seventh in the long jump.

Johnson placed first in the shot put and seventh in the discus.

Boykins placed first in the triple jump.

Tiscareno placed third in the pole vault and eighth in the 110 hurdles.

Gibson placed fourth in the 110 hurdles.

Baker placed fourth in the high jump, eighth in the 300 hurdles and 19th in the triple jump.

Linarez placed seventh in the 800 and ninth in the 1,600.

Josh Madariaga placed seventh in the 3,200 and 23rd in the 1,600.

Kendrick Perata placed ninth in the 300 hurdles and 19th in the 400.

Dominick Nicastro placed 10th in the 3,200 and 29th in the 1,600.

Hutson placed 12th in the 400 and 14th in the 200.

Gurpeet Dhami placed 12th in the 3,200 and 28th in the 1,600.

Ethan Carter placed 13th in the triple jump and 17th in the long jump.

Joseph Gutierrez placed 14th in the 1,600 and 15th in the 800.

Dennis placed 16th in the 100.

Jaime Topete placed 16th in the shot put and 20th in the discus.

Samuel Garcia placed 18th in the 100 and 20th in the long jump.

Cristofer De La Riva placed 18th in the discus and 26th in the shot put.

Daniel Hadwick placed 21st in the 400.

Michael Vargas placed 23rd in the 800.

Ceres High's 4x400 relay team of Linarez, Hutson, Boykins and Harrison placed fourth.

Ceres High's 4x100 relay team of Hutson, Dennis, Gibson and Harrison placed fifth.

Azia Brewster placed first in the high jump, fifth in the 100 hurdles and sixth in the long jump.

Pata placed third in the shot put and discus.

Shania Evans placed sixth in the triple jump and 17th in the long jump.

Alyssa Stiles placed seventh in the triple jump and 10th in the long jump.

Azar Harrison placed seventh in the 400 and 13th in the 200.

Alexandra Lugo Diaz Deleon placed eighth in the triple jump.

Kendall Meyer placed eighth in the triple jump, 11th in the high jump and 24th in the long jump.

Carli Gomes placed ninth in the 300 hurdles and 12th in the 100.

Alina Williams placed 11th in the 100 and 18th in the 200.

Destiny Suarez placed 11th in the 800 and 21st in the 1,600.

Chelsey Silva placed 12th in the 800 and 1,600.

Andria Esho placed 12th in the triple jump.

Camryn Elness placed 13th in the shot put and 19th in the discus.

Claudia Jimenez placed 14th in the 400 and 17th in the 200.

Faith Gibson placed 16th in the 100 hurdles and 19th in the 300 hurdles.

Yasmine Cordova placed 18th in the 400.

Sabrina Taylor placed 20th in the 300 hurdles.

Makayla Anderson placed 21st in the shot put and 43rd in the discus.

Mya Robinson placed 24th in the 200 and 25th in the 100.

Alondra Ochoa placed 25th in the 200.

Bella Curry placed 25th in the 800 and 1,600.

Lauren Cooper placed 33rd in the shot put and 34th in the discus.

Ceres High's 4x100 relay team of Gomez, Jimenez, Harrison and Brewster placed sixth.

"We had some really, good performances," Johnson said. "The kids gave their best effort. We just wanted to compete and improve. We did have a lot of PRs."
