Central Valley's varsity boys cross country team kept its perfect record intact against Western Athletic Conference dual-meet competition this past week.

The Hawks improved to 3-0 in the WAC standings after racing past the visiting Pacheco Panthers 15-70 on Wednesday at Ceres River Bluff Regional Park.

"Another perfect score," Central Valley senior Andres Rojo said. "We're pretty strong right now."

Rojo bested all runners with a time of 18 minutes, 29 seconds on the 3-mile course in Ceres.

Chase Bogart (18:43), Isaiah Sanchez (19:13), Christian Balderas (19:41) and Favio Gonzalez (19:50) placed second, third, fourth and fifth, respectively, while also contributing to the Hawks' point total.

"There wasn't a whole lot of concern," Rojo said while talking about the possibility of having a letdown versus Pacheco. "We were really focused. The effort was there. Instead of going our regular team pace, we sped it up a little bit. But we didn't waste our entire energy."

Central Valley will compete against unbeaten Patterson (3-0) on the road this week.

"It's been a special season," Rojo said. "We all have the same goal of taking the WAC banner. We're going to try to get the job done."
