Andres Rojo, Chase Bogart, Isaiah Sanchez, Alejandro Orozco, Javier Cuevas, Sabino Urrutia, Ruben Sanchez, Carlos Prado, Samson Gonzalez and Sergio Garcia competed together for the final time as members of Central Valley's varsity boys cross country program this past week in Angels Camp.

The Hawks posted a team score of 386 while finishing in 14th place at the Sac-Joaquin Section Division-2 Championships on Saturday at Frogtown.

"We had a couple people taking SATs," Rojo said. "That put us at a disadvantage."

Andres extended his season by securing a berth to the section meet.

Rojo took 39th in a field of 185 at Divisionals.

He completed the 3-mile course in a school-record time of 16 minutes, 51 seconds.

"That was one of my major goals coming into the season," Rojo said.

Bogart (17:32), Sanchez (17:34), Orozco (18:50), Cuevas (19:08), Urrutia (20:11), Sanchez (20:38), Prado (20:52), Gonzalez (21:41) amd Garcia (22:42) placed 65th, 68th, 106th, 115th, 137th, 145th, 154th, 161st and 173rd, respectively.

"There was tough competition out there," Rojo said. "The pace was very fast. In the beginning, it seemed like everybody was sprinting. We ran our best."

Central Valley made history this season by claiming the Western Athletic Conference overall title. The Hawks placed first at the WAC Championships and won all five of their duals.

"It puts a smile on my face knowing that we did something the school hasn't done in cross country," Rojo said. "We got our first WAC banner. I'm proud of what we accomplished. It's going to be remembered for a long time."

Unable to post a team score due to a lack of depth, Central Valley's varsity girls program had just three individuals compete at Divisionals.

Vanessa Contreras (23:04) placed 101st.

Rosa Vazquez (23:51) and Melissa Ceja (26:14) finished 113th and 143rd, respectively.

Central Valley's JV boys team took 25th (800) during the Division 1-2 competition.

Brittney Smith (110th, 29:38) was the Hawks' lone representative in the Division 1-2 JV girls race.

Central Valley's frosh-soph girls team took 15th (408) in Division 2.
