Estevan Barragan and Andrew Gibson played three seasons together with the Ceres Seahawks Youth Football & Cheer Organization.

On Nov. 3, Estevan and Andrew faced off at the high-school level for the final time.

Barragan and Central Valley earned a hard-fought 35-33 win while battling Gibson and Ceres High at Bulldog Stadium.

Estevan and Andrew both had standout games for their respective teams.

"We go to two different schools now so we don't talk as much," said Barragan, a senior running back and safety. "But we were close."

"There's always extra motivation when you're playing your friends," said Gibson, a senior running back and linebacker.

Barragan racked up 282 all-purpose yards.

He ran for 238 yards and three touchdowns, both career highs, on 20 attempts.

He caught three passes for 44 yards.

He made a team-high 12 tackles on defense.

"He did exactly what I expected him to do," Gibson said. "He did fantastic. He's a great player."

"I did everything I could to help my team win," said Barragan, who scored on runs of 67, 55 and 10 yards. "I always try hard every game."

Andrew finished with 322 all-purpose yards.

He hauled in nine passes for 121 yards and two touchdowns.

He rushed for 26 yards on 12 carries.

He amassed 139 yards on three kickoff returns. His 84-yard return set up a TD.

He totaled 36 yards on two punt returns.

He collected one tackle on defense.

"I was extremely motivated for this game knowing it could be my last," said Gibson, who will focus on academics in college if football isn't an option. "I was really focused. I was trying to make big plays."

"I'm not surprised with how he did," Barragan said. "He's their best player. He had a great performance. He made some nice catches. I knew Gibson would do everything he could to try to help his team win."
