CHS cagers finish second in Stockton

Ceres High's varsity boys basketball team played five times in a span of nine days.

The Bulldogs compiled a 2-1 record on their way to a second-place finish at the Dec. 28-30 Brookside Christian Tournament in Stockton.

"The team stepped up and had a good performance," head coach T.J. Walker said.

Dalton Durossette and Christian Murry were named to the all-tourney team.

Ceres High lost 48-38 to Brookside Christian in the championship game on Dec. 30.
Inder Sandhu led the Bulldogs with 14 points, five rebounds, two steals, one assist and one block.

He missed the previous two games due to the flu.

Durossette had 12 points, two rebounds, two blocks and two steals.

Elijah Hughes had nine points, seven rebounds, three steals and two blocks.

Ceres High bested Linden 70-57 on Dec. 29.

Durossette tallied 17 points, six rebounds, three assists and two blocks.

Brock DeWitt had 14 points, two rebounds and one assist.

Joshua Pernetti had 11 points, six rebounds and one steal.

Murry had 10 points, two rebounds, one assist and one block.

Hughes had eight points, nine rebounds and one block.

Brock Moore had six points and four rebounds.

Derrick O'Neal had four points, six assists and one steal.

Ceres High earned a narrow 50-45 victory while battling San Domenico on Dec. 28.

Durossette collected 19 points and three rebounds.

Murry had 14 points, three rebounds and two steals.

Hughes had 12 points, 12 rebounds and two steals.

Ceres High defeated visiting Denair in non-conference play on Dec. 27 at Phil de la Porte Gymnasium.

Hughes totaled 12 points, eight rebounds, one block and one steal.

Durossette had 11 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Murry had 10 points, three steals, one rebound and one block.

Sandhu had six points, four rebounds, three steals and two blocks.

DeWitt had five points, two rebounds and two assists.

Host Ceres High pulled away for a 64-42 win against Turlock Christian on Dec. 22.

The Bulldogs improved their overall record to 7-7.

Ceres High will battle Enochs this Friday in Modesto at 6 p.m.
