Ceres High School will stage its Second Annual Volleyball Camp, June 20-23, at Phil de la Porte Gymnasium.

Bulldog coaches Darlene Tobler and Meliesa Stiles will provide instruction with assistance from Ceres High players.

"We want to teach the younger kids about the sport," Tobler said. "The more exposure they get, the more competitive the sport will get in our town."

Two sessions will be offered during the four-day clinic.

The session for fourth through eighth graders will run from 3-5 p.m.

The session for grades 8-12 will run from 5-7 p.m.

"With the sport being open to boys and girls, it's interested a lot of different athletes," Tobler said. "We want to open it up to younger students this summer so they get more exposure. It's going to help grow the interest level."

Emphasis will be placed on basic fundamentals, including passing, setting, hitting, serving, blocking, serve receive, defense, communication and team work.

"We cover everything about volleyball," Tobler said. "It's a lot of fun."

Cost is $50 per participant.

Each camper will receive a t-shirt.

On-site registration will be conducted the first day of the clinic at 2:30 p.m.

"We had a really good turnout last year," Tobler said. "We had 60 students come out. That's why I did two sessions this year. I'd like to get 40-50 kids at each level."
