Southern Exposure has been selected by Ceres Courier readers as their favorite place to obtain bronzed skin.
Located at 2531 E. Whitmore Ave., Suite P, Ceres, in the Richland Shopping Center, the salon was voted the best tanning parlor.

The shop offers more than tanning. Southern Exposure has a variety of beauty services, including hairstyling and makeup by appointment, nails, facials, microdermabrasion, pedicure spa, waxing and therapeutic massages.

"My goal is to provide excellent services to everyone," said new owner Isabel Calderon. "We look forward seeing old clients and existing customers to come and get pampered in one stop."

Southern Exposure Tanning Salon has been operating in business in Ceres since 1990 but recently fell into the hands. Isabel Calderon is the new owner of the salon, which was a gift from husband Sergio Calderon on their 14th wedding anniversary. Sergio himself owns an air conditioning business.

Isabel, a mother of five children, came to Ceres 14 years ago from Anaheim. She has found the shop's clients to be a fun aspect of running the business.

Southern Exposure is offering incentives for customers to walk in, such as discounting the monthly unlimited tanning package by $12 and providing a free tanning session for referring a friend to the business.

Keeping Isabel company at the shop are hair stylists Lacy Leifried and massage therapist Sharon Faria.

The business also sells gift certificates and hair products.

Southern Exposure is open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays and Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
