Remodeled In-Shape City gym reopens

The remodeled 33,601-square-foot In-Shape City on Mitchell Road reopened for the first time since the pandemic shut it down in 2020. During a Jan. 4 Ceres Chamber of Commerce ribbon-cutting ceremony a number of local officials and company representatives helped to celebrate. Among those attending were Ceres Mayor Javier Lopez, Councilmembers Linda Ryno and Mike Kline, Chamber official Paul Huckaba, Police Chief Rick Collins, city of Ceres Community Development Director Christopher Hoem, and general manager Regina Chavez.

A ribbon cutting event held Jan. 4 helped to kick off the resurrection of the Ceres’ In-Shape Health Club. The fitness club reopened Jan. 1 after over a year of being closed.

The Mitchell Road facility was forced to close in 2020 due to state restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The chain of clubs filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

The newly remodeled 33,601-square-foot Mitchell Road facility hosted a grand opening from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 4 with a 3 p.m. Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting ceremony. Free gifts for attendees, complimentary refreshments from Mango Crazy caterer, fitness contests on the new turf, a raffle to win a free membership for the year, and a special membership promotion for new members were be part of the celebration.

In-Shape has added two new fitness studios, a new turf area in the center of the club, and doubled the size of the weight room. The club also has a dedicated cardio area, 29-minute circuit training, a large kid zone and indoor pool and sauna.

In-Shape is also looking to hire locals to build out its team. With roles to fill from entry level to leadership positions, In-Shape is looking for friendly, driven team members who are passionate about fitness. Those interested in a position should visit for more information.

Membership at In-Shape Ceres, will include unlimited use of the club, indoor pool, hot tub and sauna and a wide variety of studio classes including, Les Mills, Zumba, dance, strength, yoga, barre, aqua, senior classes, cycle and more. Membership at In-Shape can be customized based on the number of clubs a member wishes to visit while on the go.
