Eight occupants of two cars which crashed Sunday afternoon at Grayson and Vivian roads southwest of Ceres were rushed to four local hospitals for injuries ranging from minor to major.

The California Highway Patrol reported that the crash occurred at 1:28 p.m.

The CHP investigated and said Usbaldo Santos-Estrada, 23, of Patterson was driving a green 1994 Mazda B4000 pickup northbound on Vivian Road just south of W. Grayson Road. Investigators say Santos-Estrada failed to stop at the stop sign and collided into a black colored 2008 Saturn Outlook driving westbound on Grayson Road by Michel Medina, 29, of Modesto.

Santos-Estrada sustained minor injuries and was taken to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto. Six others in his vehicle were hurt. They were: Ricardo Ordaz, 29, of Hughson, who sustained minor injuries and was taken to Memorial Medical Center; Ashley Garcia, 26, of Waterford, who was treated for minor injuries at Memorial; Reyna Zamora, 18, of Patterson who sustained major injuries and was rushed to Doctors Medical Center; Claudia Hernandez, 18, of Patterson who had minor injuries treated at Doctors; and Hugo Medina, 3, and Adrian Medina, 2, both of Modesto, who sustained injuries. Hugo went to Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock while Adrian was taken to UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento.

Michel Medina, the lone occupant in the Saturn, suffered major injuries and was rushed to Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock.

A press release issued by the CHP indicated that Usbaldo Santos-Estrada was arrested and that it’s believed that alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in the collision.
