Mo's Oasis, formerly Coble's Corner east of Hughson along busy Geer Road, was destroyed by a fire that broke out Thursday evening at around 11 p.m.

Firefighters from Hughson, Ceres, Keyes, Stanislaus Consolidated, Mountain View, Turlock Rural and Denair fire departments were summoned to bring water tenders to the blaze at the southeast corner of Whitmore Avenue and Geer Road. The building was engulfed by flamed when the first units arrived. Because the fire had compromised the integrity of the roof, firefighters had to limit their attack from the outside.

Upon initial study, it appears the fire started in the kitchen area at the southeast portion of the building.
The store, which is owned by Mohamed Mohsin and Abdelrahman "Charlie" Nagi, was declared a total loss.

Mohsin purchased the business in 2003 and renamed it Mo's Oasis. He was on scene before firefighters arrived because a mobile home tenant of his next door called him with the bad news.

Investigators will be trying to determine the cause of the fire.
