Ceres High's varsity boys water polo team lost ground in the Western Athletic Conference standings this past week.

The second-place Bulldogs fell two games behind the undefeated Wolves of Livingston after compiling a 1-1 record.

Ceres High lost 12-10 at Los Banos on Wednesday.

The Bulldogs (3-2) dropped into a tie for second place in the WAC with the Tigers.

Ceres High rallied for a 15-13 win over visiting Los Banos on Oct. 3.

"We knew it was going to be a tough game," Bulldogs head coach Bill Campbell said. "We barely beat them the first time."

Ceres High's Tristan Freitas-Scott tallied a team-high five goals against the Tigers.

David Johnson scored twice.

Luis Camarillo, Logan Kier and Ethan Letras all collected one goal.

Bulldog goalkeeper Caleb Canella had 19 saves.

Ceres High stunned Pacheco 12-11 on Oct. 10 in Los Banos.

Nicholas Webb scored the winning goal from the half-pool mark with 1.3 seconds to play.

"It was pretty exciting to win that way," Campbell said. "The other team was in shock. It was a heck of a shot."

Letras and Freitas-Scott scored four and three goals, respectively.

Webb and Kier both had two goals.

Caleb Bishop added one goal.

Cannella made 13 saves.

Down 11-8, Ceres High outscored Pacheco 4-0 during the fourth period.
