Stanislaus County homicide detectives were busy scouring for clues Saturday evening to determine who shot and killed a 31-year-old man in south Modesto.

Deputies were dispatched to the area of Herndon Street and Sam Avenue outside of Ceres, shortly after 7 p.m. to investigate the reports of shots being fired. Initially deputies found signs of shots having been fired but did not locate a victim. However, dispatchers received calls reporting a red Chevrolet Suburban being involved in the shooting and fleeing.

Deputies went to a second shooting location, this one in the 600 block of Bystrum Road. A residence on Bystrum Road had been fired at multiple times.

A short time later, a red Chevrolet Suburban rolled up to a Modesto Fire Department truck in the area of 13th and G streets in Modesto. David Siqueiros, 31, of Modesto, an occupant inside the Chevy had been wounded and was transported to a Modesto area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives said a Hispanic male drove the red Chevrolet Suburban to the area of Herndon Street and Sam Avenue where there was an altercation with a group of males standing in a duplex parking lot near the intersection. The driver then fled the area with several unidentified subjects following in a second vehicle, a burgundy sedan. Shots were exchanged between occupants of the two vehicles near the intersection of Bystrum Road and Lombardo Street.

The suspects in the sedan fled the area while the subject in the Chevy contacted a second party near the 600 block of Bystrum Road.
