• DUI SUSPECT BLAMED IN CRASH: CERES - A minor traffic crash occurred in the 1400 block of Mitchell Road Wednesday, Feb. 2 with officers ended up arresting an allegedly intoxicated 78-year-old driver.

At 1:15 p.m. a crash took place outside of Kentucky Fried Chicken and the responding officer felt Robert Taylor, 78, of Waterford, had too much to drink. An investigation revealed Taylor had a blood alcohol content of 0.08 and he was arrested and booked for driving while under the influence of alcohol.

• DRUGS FOUND ON MOPED RIDER: CERES - David Trevino, 43, of Empire, was arrested after an officer found him carrying methamphetamine as he rode a moped in the 1500 block of Mitchell Road on Sunday.

At 12:15 a.m. an officer stopped Trevino for riding without a helmet. She learned Trevino had a $500,000 arrest warrant issued by Tuolumne County. When he was searched Trevino was found with the meth tucked inside his clothing. He was arrested on the warrant, possession of methamphetamine and riding without a helmet.

• ANOTHER DUI CHARGE: CERES - Norville Logan, 37, of Ceres, is facing yet another charge of drunk driving after he was stopped Saturday on a pocket bike at Lucchessi and Greenback lanes.

Officer Ron Collins made the traffic stop at 8:37 p.m. and conducted a DUI investigation. Logan was arrested for felony DUI because of prior convictions for the same offense, and driving on a suspended license.

• CHILD ENDANGERMENT CHARGES: CERES - Parents of two children seen walking alone in the 2700 block of Whitmore Avenue were arrested and booked on child endangerment charges.

At 9:52 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 2, police were notified that a seven-year-old child was carrying his three-year-old brother in the street.

Police located the children's father, Erik Suarez, 27, of Ceres, at Whitmore and Rose avenues. Suarez, who appeared to be intoxicated, told the officer that it was the mother's turn to watch the children. He was booked on charges of child endangerment and public intoxication.

The children's mother, Sofia Barron, 24, of Ceres, was asked why she left the children with their drunk father and her reply was that he wasn't that drunk at the time and added, "It's not my responsibility. I'll just put them up for adoption." Barron was also arrested for child endangerment.

Both children were placed into the custody of Child Protective Services.

• PURSUIT: SOUTH MODESTO - The California Highway Patrol was involved in a short pursuit of a motorcyclist in the area of Carpenter and Hatch on Monday evening.

The pursuit started at 9:09 p.m. with Ceres canine officers helping to locate the suspect hiding in brush along the Tuolumne River. His name and reason for running were not available.
