• STOLEN CAR: CERES - Christopher Collins, 28, of Ceres, was arrested Wednesday, May 23 as he was driving a stolen car at Whitmore Avenue and Seventh Street.

At 10:05 a.m. Officer Brittney England located a 1994 Honda Accord stolen from Merced. Collins was arrested him for auto theft, possession of stolen property and probation violation.

• MARKET BURGLARIZED: CERES - Someone broke into Richland Market on Monday, May 21 after prying open the front glass door and stole cigarettes and baby formula.

The entry was made at 1:30 a.m. Police believe the suspect was a male wearing a heavy coat.

• SCHOOL AC UNITS RUINED: CERES - The roof-mounted air conditioning units atop the Ceres High School band room and cafeteria were damaged the weekend of May 19-20 by someone who broke in and removed copper parts.

• GUNS IN SAFE STOLEN: CERES - A resident in the 2300 block of Thomas Avenue reported that someone broke into his home and carted off a gun safe stocked with 25 guns on Monday, May 21.

The theft took place between 7:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

• ICE CREAM PARLOR ROBBED: CERES - An armed robber made off with a small amount of cash on Friday evening at Baskin Robbins ice cream parlor on Hatch Road.

Police were called at 5:47 p.m. and learned that a white adult male, estimated to be about 55 years old, walked into the back room with a black handgun and made the employees come out to the cash register which was opened for him.

The robber, wearing a plaid shirt and blue jeans, was last seen running eastbound toward Richland Avenue.
