A 20-year-old Ceres man was arrested on drunken driving charges after he was stopped Friday evening after violating the vehicle code.

Ceres Police Officer Josiah Mardirosian stopped Noah Hammonds, 20, of Ceres in his Chevrolet Silverado at 9:15 p.m. in the area of Southwood Drive and Missionwood Court.

Hammonds’ cab smelled strongly of alcohol and he appeared to be intoxicated. After failing field sobriety tests he was arrested. Blowing into the breathalyzer revealed that a blood alcohol concentration that was nearly three times the legal limit for an adult to drive a vehicle.

Hammonds was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.
