Ceres Police cornered a Ceres man at Walmart Sunday evening they didn't know had been already arrested and awaiting trial for a prior Modesto theft of a TV. But they took Damein Cockrum, 38, of Ceres, to jail anyway for an outstanding traffic warrant.

At 10:49 p.m. a loss prevention officer at the store spotted Cockrum in the electronic department and believed that he looked like the suspect wanted for a stealing a TV from the Modesto store and pulling a gun on an employee who tried to stop him. The employee learned about the Modesto theft and suspect from a Crime Stoppers bulletin.

Believing he might be armed, multiple officers showed up to detain Cockrum. He explained that he was already arrested for the theft. They took him to jail on the outstanding warrant.
