A 32-year-old Modesto man was arrested on Tuesday evening, July 29 for allegedly stealing the pickup he was using.
At approximately 6:17 p.m., Ceres Police Officer Angel Murillo was patrolling the area of Whitmore Avenue near Ninth Street when he spotted a maroon-colored Chevrolet Silverado that was reported stolen. The pickup was parked at the gas pumps of the AM/PM at 2507 Ninth Street. Officers converged on the stolen vehicle and contacted two men walking from the store to the pickup.
Police determined that one of the subjects was uninvolved and was released from the scene. The other man, Ramon Perez Leon, 32, of Modesto was arrested for auto theft and possession of a stolen vehicle and booked at the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.
