Battery arrest made at apartment complex
Ceres Cop Car

A 23-year-old man will face charges in court that he battered his live-in girlfriend and abused their child.

Andre Alvarez, of Ceres, was arrested on Wednesday morning, Sept. 23 after his girlfriend texted her sister and asked her to call police in a hurry. The sister called police at 8:54 a.m. and told the dispatcher that the woman had been assaulted in the past by the Alvarez.

Police sped to the unit at Pine Ridge Apartments, 1301 Richland Avenue, and found the door locked. Officers could hear movement inside the apartment and could see someone through a crack in the door but nobody would open the door. Officers got the manager to hand over a key so they could enter and conduct a security check. They found the female with a significant wound on her head. They also found Alvarez had harmed the baby. They learned he was preventing her from answering the door.

He was arrested on charges of domestic violence, false imprisonment and child abuse.
