Suspect arrested in deadly shooting at Ceres home

Anthony Frank Leon Morris, 44, of Ceres, was arrested and charged with the fatal Sunday evening shooting of Joseph Dillard, 40, of Menlo Park.

A 40-year-old Menlo Park man was shot to death late Sunday in the 3200 block of Ninth Street in Ceres.

Arrested and charged with homicide is Anthony Frank Leon Morris, 44, of Ceres.

The victim was identified as Joseph Dillard. The department issued a press release indicating that the shooting occurred at approximately 11:34 p.m., inside a residence. The first arriving officer heard a verbal disturbance coming from a nearby residence and heard statements related to someone getting shot. The officers detained Morris and a 39-year-old Stockton woman. Officers found the victim suffering from gunshots wounds. Efforts to keep him alive were unsuccessful and Dillard died at the scene.

Officers located two firearms inside the home.

Two teenage juveniles at home were unharmed, reported Ceres Police Sgt. Jason Coley.
