A man accused of stealing a bicycle at Burger King on Hatch Road ducked into an elderly woman's house on Sunday afternoon and had to be removed by the clinching jaws of a police canine.

The bike theft was reported at 12:13 p.m. in the 1400 block of Hatch. Officer Josh Klinge spotted the suspect in the 1300 block of Pecos Avenue, then watched him entered the house at 1329 Pecos belonging to an elderly woman. The woman did not see the man enter the house but was asked by police to step outside. Several announcements were made for the man to come out, which were unanswered. Police then sent in a canine, which found the suspect hiding under a bed. The dog but his teeth into Modesto parolee Primitivo Gratton, 30.

He was placed on a parole hold and also charged with resisting arrest.
