A man and woman were arrested for public intoxication Saturday afternoon after police broke up a confrontation in the intersection of Forest Lane and Myrtlewood Drive.
Police were called about the fight between John Arellano, 29, of Ceres, and Brandie Martinez, 21, of Modesto, at 3:05 p.m.
"Both were very inebriated, yelling and slurring speech," said Ceres Police Department spokesman Sgt. Jose Berber. "Both had a strong smell of alcohol on their breath. Neither one could explain why they were arguing."
Because it appeared that the two were unable to care for themselves, Arellano and Martinez were arrested for public intoxication.
