Boy, 13, arrested for stealing car

A 13-year-old Turlock boy was booked into Stanislaus County Juvenile Hall on a charge of felony auto theft after an officer saw him driving it on Sunday evening.  

Ceres Police Sgt. Travis Hudson was checking the Herndon Road and Symphony Lane area due to its high auto theft incidence at 11:09 p.m. when he spotted an older black Honda Accord and decided to run a check of the license. The driver suddenly an abrupt turn onto Sonora Road and north on Symphony Lane. Sgt. Hudson stopped the driver on Symphony Lane at Cello Court.

The juvenile said the car belonged to his cousin but Sgt. Hudson discovered the vehicle was started with a shaved key that was stuck in the ignition. He learned the Honda had just been stolen from in front of the owner’s house.
