Burglary suspect stopped leaving scene

A suspicious-acting man who had just burglarized a car in the2300 Don Pedro Road was stopped and arrested Friday morning after he was found with stolen goods.

Officer Coey Henson was called to the neighborhood at 6:31 a.m. by someone who reported a man behaving suspiciously in front of Don Pedro Elementary School. Based on the description, Henson quickly located Sean Dean Rigney, 27, of Denair, walking on the north side of Don Pedro Road from Central Avenue. Henson saw Rigney toss a purse to onto the ground with its contents of papers falling out. Henson had Rigney pick up the small purse and contents, which were several business cards and ID belonging to the woman whose car was burglarized.

The owner confirmed the items belonged to her and were kept in a small purse inside her vehicle. The victim checked her car to find it had been ransacked.

Rigney admitted to opening the unlocked vehicle and stealing the purse. Rigney was arrested and charged with several felony charges consisting of vehicle burglary, possession of stolen property, and probation violation.

Rigney was booked into the County Jail on burglary charges. All property was returned to the owner.
