A police canine alerted on the presence of narcotics inside of a Jeep Wrangler stopped by an officer for an obstructed license plate and led to a passenger’s arrest on Wednesday evening, June 13.
Officer Ross Bays stopped the Jeep at approximately 9:53 p.m. and his canine signaled it detected drugs, which courts have said is cause for a search. Officer Bays located 1.7 grams of heroin and a glass pipe used to smoke heroin stuffed inside a bag that belonged to Jonathan Whatley, 30, of Ceres.
