Car theft suspect arrested

Daniel Rangel was arrested for warrant relating to grand theft auto in San Diego.

A 38-year-old Stockton man who was riding in a car stopped early Friday in Ceres for not having a rear license plate was discovered to be wanted for a San Diego auto theft.

At 2:11 p.m., Ceres Police Officer Kao Saechao stopped a vehicle on Whitmore Avenue near Moffett Road for not having a rear license plate displayed. Passenger Daniel Rangel admitted to being on probation. He was found to be wanted for a felony grand theft warrant issued out of San Diego. He was arrested and booked.
