Ceres man arrested in bank robbery

Bernabe Orejel, Jr. has been arrested and charged with robbing the Bank of the West in Ceres on Monday.

A 38-year-old Ceres man was arrested after he allegedly robbed the Whitmore Avenue Bank of the West on Monday afternoon.

Bernabe Orejel, Jr. was booked for the robbery, which occurred at 3:07 p.m.

Officers descended on the area to search for a Hispanic man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt who left the bank on foot with an unknown amount of cash. While checking the area, a man matching the description was located in front of the nearby Dennis’s Sav-On Liquors. 

Orejel was found in possession of approximately $1,200 believed to be from the robbery.
