Ceres Police help critically injured man in road

A man who was critically injured when he was struck by a car on Morgan Road north of Whitmore Avenue on Tuesday evening, April 30 was assisted by Ceres Police officers until Modesto Police and paramedics could take over.

At 9:59 p.m., officers were dispatched to the incident and found the pedestrian, a 34-year-old male down in the roadway with a badly broken leg that was bleeding profusely. Ceres officers immediately began life-saving measures for the man. Officer Matt Berlier applied a tourniquet to the leg, which stopped the bleeding. Paramedics and fire personnel arrived a short time later and took over medical aid. 

The collision was found to have occurred within Modesto Police jurisdiction, said Ceres Police Department spokesman Sgt. Greg Yotsuya. They responded to the scene and conducted the investigation of the collision.
