Two men have been arrested by Ceres Police in the Dec. 3 shooting death of a 20-year-old man in north Ceres.
The shooting in the 2700 block of Riverpark Drive left Zocario Benjamin Munoz dead and Issaac McNab, 26, severely wounded.
On Thursday Ceres Police detectives arrested homicide suspects Oshua Emmanuel Cervantes, 27, and Josue Lopez, 21, both of Modesto following an extensive investigation that culminated in four search warrants executed at numerous homes in Stanislaus County. Both men were also charged with the attempted murder of McNab who suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was treated at a local hospital.
The preliminary investigation determined that a group of individuals was gathered at Riverview Park at approximately 2 a.m. when they were confronted by multiple males who rolled up in a vehicle. During a confrontation, several gunshots were fired with Munoz mortally wounded in the street and McNab hit and on the ground nearby.
Ceres detectives spent the next several weeks canvassing the neighborhood, interviewing potential witnesses, collecting video evidence and conducting surveillance which led to them to identify the two suspects.
The Ceres Police Department expressed gratitude for the assistance of the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department, Modesto and Turlock police departments, and the Stanislaus County District Attorney’s Office.
“Their contributions led to the arrest of two violent criminals and helped bring justice to the victims and their families,” said Ceres Police Lt. Jeff Godfrey.
The investigation remains ongoing and anyone with information related to this case is encouraged to contact Detective Welsh at 209-538-5616.
