A 26-year-old Delhi resident will face a criminal felony charge of evading police following a vehicle pursuit involving Ceres Police on a Thursday evening.

At 10:26 p.m., Ceres Police Officer Charles Lord-Huff was patrolling the area of Mitchell Road near Hatch Road when he saw Jose Ambriz, 26, of Delhi riding recklessly on a Honda motorcycle. The officer attempted to stop Ambriz in the area of Mitchell Road near Finch Road to cite him for several vehicle code violations.

Ambriz failed to stop and a pursuit was initiated. For safety reasons, the pursuit was terminated within a short time as the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office Air Unit tracked Ambriz’s movements through the outskirts of Modesto and Turlock. Ceres Police trailed far behind and were not actively engaged in the pursuit. The helicopter crew tracked Ambriz to a residence in the 16000 block of Letteau Avenue in Delhi where Ceres officers took Ambriz into custody.

Ambriz was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center for evading police in a vehicle.
