A Ceres teenager was arrested Jan. 25 on charges of possession of child pornography.

Christopher Gaspar-Tovar, 19, was taken into custody at his home in the 700 block of Del Sol Court in Ceres following an investigation conducted by the Ceres Police detectives, working as members of the Sacramento Valley Hi-Tech Crimes Task Force.

The case was initiated by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) and it was referred to the Sacramento Valley Hi-Tech Crimes Task Force for investigation.

"The Ceres Police Department takes these matters seriously and will investigate each case in reference to children to its fullest," said Ceres Police Department spokesman Sgt. Jose Berber. "We highly encourage anyone with information of a person in possession of child pornography to contact their local police agency."
