Quick action of Officer Nicolas Welsh resulted in the recovery of a stolen white Honda Accord he spotted at the AM/PM in the 1700 block of Hatch Road Sunday morning and the arrest of the man driving it.

Welsh was on patrol at 8:02 a.m. and checked the license plates of the Honda Accord parked at the store and discovered they belonged on a Toyota. Officer Welsh waited for the suspect, Thomas Pack, 28, of Modesto, to return to the Honda and drive off before stopping it in the 1400 block of Stonum Road.

Pack was arrested when it was confirmed that the car was stolen in Modesto on Friday. The Honda was returned to its owner and Pack was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on six charges. They were possession of stolen property, possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of burglary tools, possession of an illegal substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and a violation of probation.
