A citizen tackled a suspect who was fleeing from Ceres police officers who wanted him for a warrant arrest.

At 9:16 p.m. on Friday Officers Brittney England and Carlos Quiroz were at a taco wagon in the 1600 block of Crows Landing Road when they spotted Jeffrey Ferris, 28, of Modesto. England knew Ferris from a prior contact and knew him to be searchable and on probation. After Ferris consented to a search he decided to run instead. A foot pursuit occurred in the parking lot of Mi Pueblo Market when a bystander grabbed Ferris and took him to the ground for the officers.

Ferris was arrested for the Modesto warrant as well as a new charge of delaying and resisting an officer.
