A boyfriend and girlfriend were each arrested for domestic violence on Thursday, Oct. 16 during a fight in which both were determined to provoke.

At 9:34 p.m. a 911 call was made from a residence in the 3400 block of South Central Avenue where Jimmie Wheeler, 26, of Ceres, and Melissa Ambriz, 30, of Modesto, were arguing. Police Sgt. Jose Berber said that Wheeler left the scene reportedly with her cell phone and she wanted to press charged for theft.

Police learned that the two had been yelling with Wheeler accusing Ambriz of cheating. He allegedly fetched a handgun from the closet and told her to leave for the other man. The pregnant Ambriz said Wheeler pushed her and punched the wall.

Wheeler later returned to the scene and insisted on pressing charges on her for assault. Since there was evidence that both were aggressors, both Wheeler and Ambriz were arrested on charges of misdemeanor domestic violence.
