The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department is hailing one of its deputies for possibly saving the life of an assault victim who was being attacked by four men – one armed with a gun – after rolling into the scene.
The attack occurred Saturday morning at 10:35 a.m. in south Modesto. Deputy Kevin McCarty was on patrol and rolling through the area of Dallas Street and Butte Avenue when he observed four men attacking a male victim. The suspects ran when they spotted the deputy who began rendering aid with the help of others.
The victim reported the primary attacker was 19-year-old Keynu Bordeau of Modesto who had pointed a loaded gun at him prior to the deputy’s arrival. When the suspects scattered Bordeau tossed the gun and ran.
Deputies later arrested Bordeau on multiple charges and found the loaded gun. It didn’t have a serial number and was “ghost gun” made from Polymer80 parts.
The victim sustained only minor facial injuries.
Bordeau was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on felony charges that include assault with a firearm, brandishing a firearm, being a previously convicted felon in possession of a gun, carrying a loaded and unregistered firearm in public, as well as assault and battery.
