Ceres Cop Car

The stabbing of two persons Tuesday morning in a rural mobile home park sent detectives scurrying to the scene to piece together what occurred.

The knife attack occurred at approximately 9:16 a.m. in the Country Western Mobile Home Park, 4449 S. Carpenter Road, west of Ceres. Responding to the stabbing were Stanislaus County Sheriff's deputies and Modesto Police officers. They found a 54-year-old woman and 56-year-old man suffering from stab wound.

Both were transported to the emergency room and are expected to survive.

Turlock Police detectives took over the investigation due to the funeral for Deputy Dennis Wallace that day. They developed suspect information.

At 6 a.m. Wednesday someone at the park called 911 to report that one of the suspects had returned to a trailer. Deputies found the suspect, 53-year-old Phillip Turley and arrested him on charges of attempted murder.

Detectives are following up on a second suspect.
