Discovery of stolen car at Walmart leads to arrests of Turlock couple
Billy Nix and Athea Gonzalez
Billy Nix and Athea Gonzalez, both of Turlock, were arrested last week at the Ceres Walmart Supercenter.

Two Turlock residents were arrested Friday evening at the Walmart Supercenter in Ceres, one for auto theft and his passenger for arrest warrants.

At 10:33 p.m., Officer Eric Souza was patrolling the Walmart parking lot and spotted a parked silver-colored Acura TSX that was reported stolen. Billy Nix, 41, of Turlock was in the driver’s seat and removed from the car at gunpoint. The officer learned that Nix was waiting for the return of passenger Athea Gonzalez, 37, also of Turlock, who had warrants for her arrest. Officers located Gonzalez inside the store and arrested her for the warrants.

Nix and Gonzalez were booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center. Nix’s charges are for auto theft, possession of a stolen vehicle and probation violation.

While her booking, Gonzalez was found to be in possession of a knife which added the charge of smuggling a weapon into jail atop of her charge for possession of a stolen vehicle and the two warrants.
