Drive-thru lane DUI arrest made

A citizen's call led Ceres Police to arrest a female driver in the McDonalds drive-thru lane for drunken driving early Sunday.

Ceres Police Department spokesman Lt. James Yandell said that the report came in at 2:12 a.m., and that Officer Kiashira Ruiz arrived at the Hatch Road and Herndon Avenue eatery. Ruiz found driver Margarita Fernandez, 23, of Modesto, trying to escape the lane by driving over the grass by the sidewalk but getting her car stuck instead. The officer had Fernandez get out of her car to complete several sobriety tests. Fernandez was arrested and booked for driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol level above .08 percent.

At the time of her arrest Fernandez's blood alcohol level was .19 percent.
