A 51-year-old Modesto man was arrested for auto theft during a Thursday evening traffic stop for vehicle code violations.

At 11:11 p.m., Officer Eric Souza was patrolling the 1300 block of Herndon Road when he stopped Jason Shaddox driving a Chevrolet Silverado. Officer Souza learned that the vehicle hull number did not match the license plate and was reported stolen.

Shaddox was removed from the vehicle and arrested for auto theft and possession of a stolen vehicle and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.
