Driver arrested on signs of selling drugs

Michael Castle, 27, was arrested Wednesday evening, Dec. 23 after an officer found evidence of drugs for sale in his car during a traffic stop.

Officer Matt Berlier stopped Castle's vehicle for a vehicle code violation at 8:36 p.m. in the area of Herndon Road and Joyce Avenue. Castle was unable to produce a driver's license and gave his brother's name. While conducting a search of the vehicle for an ID, the officer located a meth pipe in the center console. At that point Castle took off running and was chased down. The suspect was caught nearby and a pat-down search produced over an ounce of suspected methamphetamine packaged in smaller amounts. The officer also found $3,900 in cash on Castle which was also seized.

Castle was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance, transportation of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for sales, resisting arrest, giving police a false name and driving on a suspended license.
