A man who was pulled over for plates he switched out from another vehicle was arrested for what officers found in his car – a collapsible baton and a sap.

Officer Matthew Myers was on patrol in the 1300 block of E. Hatch Road at 3:46 p.m., on Wednesday, Dec. 18 and conducted a traffic stop on Richard Garcia, 57, of Modesto because the plates on the car belonged to another vehicle. 

Garcia said that he had switched the plates due to the fact that the vehicle had not been registered for several years.
