A 26-year-old Modesto man was arrested in Ceres Saturday evening after he initially ignored the red lights and siren of a Ceres patrol unit and was found with drugs.

At 10:16 p.m, Officer Eric Gallegos conducted a traffic stop after seeing a car traveling southbound on Herndon Road across Whitmore Avenue with no headlights on. When the officer tried to pull over driver Abraham Bermudez, 26, of Modesto, the car continued to be driven to El Camino Avenue, eastbound on North Street then southbound on Fifth Street before coming to a stop. Officer Gallegos noticed that Bermudez appeared to be reaching for something as he drove. Officer Gallegos contacted Abraham and detained him. During a search of the suspect, officers found a glass smoking pipe commonly used to smoke methamphetamine, in Bermudez’s pocket. A baggie containing suspected methamphetamine was located with a lighter and another glass smoking pipe in the vehicle.

Bermudez was booked into jail for possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, evading an officer and driving without a license, without incident.
